Pretty good Old Forge style pizza, not the best atmosphere.

Amazing & quick pizza! Thank you, Ghigiarelli's! Sodium issues preclude pepperoni, etc. so "Yours truly" (obviously not from Old Forge) ordered a "take-out" meatball/mushroom pizza. What do I know, right? Although an "unusual order," many thanks to your chefs for helping this lady postpone the "Big" ONE while preparing the most delicious pizza this "mature" lady has ever enjoyed! Whenever visiting your "Pizza Capital" of the U.S., know where & what take-out pizza I'll be ordering...

This placed used to be my favorite it's in a house they really only serve pizza. I asked for a slice of white but they only do quarter treys anymore. Not what the menu says. Pizza is thicker and more doughy than I. The past and now it tastes liked canned tomatoes with random hints of onion on a thick doughy crust with mozzarella with crappy service that used to be endearing when the pizza rocked. Eehhh pizza with crappy service is bad all over

Not sure what the big deal is about Old Forge style pizza. I'll take a nice thin crust New York style any day. We waited close to 90 minutes to get our tray of pizza at this place. Other people that came in after us got their pizza before us, and they were not overly busy. I was disappointed in Ghigiarelli's. We may try another Old Forge place just to make sure that we are not missing something based on our poor experience here.

I agree, best white pizza in the area! Not a heck of a lot to look at from the outside, but who cares??? The food is good, and like I mentioned the double crusted white is really very good. Don't get me wrong, it makes my cholesterol levels rise just talking about it...but that doesn't mean it isn't very very good.

If you want white pizza to die for, then come to Ghigiarelli's. Bold statement -- I know. Old Forge is full of some of the best tasting pizza anywhere, and there are as many opinions as there are restaurants on Main Street. I, however, really love the white pizza here. It's the main draw. The white pizza is double crusted. So if you don't like crust, perhaps go across the street. But if you do like crust, this is your place. The crust is coated with rosemary and onions. Mmh! As for the cheese... The cheese inside just oozes out from both sides, as your heart gets one step closer to a heart attack with every bite. So delicious! The red pizza is also good, but not as good as the white. The sauce has onions in it, which adds a nice addition to the flavorful sauce. The crust is crispy. Get a half tray first to see if it fits up to par for your idea of what red should be. The wait staff consists of some lifers, who seem to equally serve tables and work in the kitchen. They won't hassle you, but don't waste their time. All in all though, the restaurant has a family vibe. The decorum is nothing special, but that's not the point. People come here for friends, family, and food.

Ghigarelli's has both the best red and white pizza in NEPA, period. Excellent food and excellent service for a good price. If you'd like to truly appreciate the aura sorrounding Old Forge pizza, then you must come to Ghigarellis.

Sloooow service, no atmosphere to speak of, not the cleanest place on earth... BUT... O-M-G, the PIZZA. White or red, perfectly balanced, light, flavorful, fresh. So far, the best of Old Forge pizza we've had. The crowd knows it too... in the hour we waited for our pizza, we struck up a conversation with the folks at the adjacent table and commiserated re: waiting so long, but went into collective pizza coma when we took our first bites. We even made a pact to share each other's slices as they came out so everyone could eat a little as soon as possible. Overall, full of quirks but fun place. And, again, O-M-G, the PIZZA ;-)

Had some great red and white pizza and a nice visit with Vince on our way north to Binghamton this week. I've been enjiying the taste and smell of this pizza for 50 years, as my familyran the flower shoppe right next door. I renember many visits sitting at the kitchen table enjoying the exotic white pizza. It still hits all the right memories. May like the oniony, cheesy red best now but they are both so good! Really enjoyed sitting with Vince, talking baseball, WWII heroes, and the history of their excellent pizza. Come to Old Forge, enjoy the history, the local pride, and their super pizza!

Completely agree with earlier review by Fred. We waited one hour and 45 minutes for a tray and a half of pizza when they were clearly not busy, and after waiting all that time, the pizza was just okay. It was definitely not comparable to Revello's or Salerno's. The service was horrible as well. I was only drinking water, and it was almost impossible to get a refill. As if that wasn't enough, upon receiving our bill, we were told they do not accept credit cards. There was no notice on the doors, menus, or anywhere in the restaurant. Our bill was almost $50 for this pizza and 3 beers. We will definitely not be going back there again. Disgusted.

This pizza is unlike any other pizza in old forge and in my opinion it is by far the best!! Red and white are both absolutely to die for. It is a must to stop down Ghigiarellis when in Old Forge. Also, if you're into tripe their sauce is delicious!

Sloooowwwww service. Took an hour for the pizza to come out. The pizza was terrible to be honest. Im by no means a 'pizza snob,' but I am baffled by all the positive reviews. I would have much preferred to go to the Dominos down the street. The ambiance wasn't nice. There are a lot better places in Scranton to get good pizza.

(This is on 511 S Main in Old Forge, PA) One of the best in Old Forge, if you like your sauce onion-y. Great dough.
